About CHACO

Our Story

It began as a simple loan between workers at Champion Paper in Hamilton, Ohio. The paper mill workers were searching for an innovative way to fund low interest loans to each other, so they pulled their money together and quickly a great way to save and borrow money emerged. Based on the belief of “People Helping People” CHACO Credit Union was established in 1938.

CHACO has grown tremendously by adding new products and services to fully service all of our members’ financial needs. We now have seven locations in Butler, Hamilton and Preble counties, including three inside Wal-Mart. We have a lot to be proud of after more than 70 years and a lot to look forward to, as we enter the next 70 years from a position of strength and stability. Most importantly we have not lost the spirit of innovation that sparked our beginnings: "People Helping People."

CHACO serves Butler, Hamilton and Preble Counties. Anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in one of these counties can join. CHACO has seven convenient locations including three retail centers inside Wal-Mart to serve our members.
